Esk Valley's ‘Great Dirt’ collection are expressive and age-worthy wines. Each tells a story of its unique soil and history, reflecting our intimate relationship with the Hawkes Bay landscape fostered over many decades of winegrowing. The select
vineyard blocks from which these wines are sourced have long produced the finest of our wines. Each is made in a hands-off manner, using only the best parcels of hand-picked fruit to capture the essence and unique character of each site.
The River Gravels is the ultimate selection of three tiny vineyard plots comprising of greywacke river gravel, silt and sand strewn soils from the wake of the 1867 Ngaruroro River flood. These infertile and heat reflective soils produce a powerful, structured wine worth an extended wait in the cellar.
