his hand crafted wine comes from the best fruit from the cooler 2017 vintage. A lack of warmth through April made ripening the grapes a challenge but it presented us with smaller berries leading to deeper concentration of flavours.
The wine spent 9 months on barrel, 24% new oak, and the characteristics of thyme and cherry reflect the site nicely. The wine will impress now but also will reward a few years in the cellar. It's a special wine....awarded #1 Pinot in New Zealand by Cuisine, their notes are below:
This plush and concentrated wine displays layers of ripe cherry, dried thyme, a whiff of toast and a sweet silkiness elegantly draped over a chalky tannin structure. The wine needs time, yet it is certainly beautifully set up to age with dignity. - Cuisine Magazine
