Château Villefranche is recognised as one of the oldest wine estates in the Sauternes region. It has been in the Guinabert family since the mid XVII century. The estate extends over to the Haut-Barsac plateau with its rich argilo-calcareous soil types.
The grape varieties used to produce their white wines include three major varietals : Sauvignon, Muscadelle and Semillon. These create delicate, elegant and fine wines.
The terroir is composed of both calcareous clay and sandy-gravelly soil. This combination of soil types gives the wine it's unique complexity which, through meticulous work from harvesting through to vinification, results in a rich bouquet worthy of a Graves, with its woody and red fruit aromas.
