Ch?teau du C?dre, in the heart of the Cahors appellation, must be regarded as the region's leading light; the refined Malbec grape reaches new heights here. Deep, dark and elegant, Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe?s wines reveal the superb terroir of their estate.
The vineyard is essentially organic without having the Ecocert stamp on the label. Since 1988, they practice environmental friendly viticulture: no herbicides are used, there is no spraying against rot and only organic compost is used. A small amount of Tannat and Merlot (5% each) is used in the regular cuv?e (formally called "Prestige") but the flagship wine of Ch?teau du C?dre is 100% Malbec.
This wine has sworn eternal fidelity and it sticks to it! Each year, it presents itself with a friendly handshake and a few attentive words. After that, it can?t wait to show off the full range of its ripe and juicy fruits, spices and herbs accompanied by precise tannins, refreshing acidity and a little sweetness.
