The Albarino Brothers is a kiwi wine business focused on crea ng the most delicious Albarino wines from the Gisborne and Hawkes Bay regions and taking them to the world. Their first wine is launching in New Zealand in September and is sure to make a big splash. There is no mistaking the Albarino Brothers wine label, and it will be featuring in great restaurants and wine stores across the country. The Albarino grape has a real affinity to Gisborne and Hawkes Bay, with both regions sharing characteristics with its native home in northwestern Spain and Portugal. The slightly warmer nights are perfect to tame the natural high acidity of Albarino and, having evolved in a maritime climate, the grape is very resistant to humidity and rain coming in from the ocean.
The Brothers These three guys became friends through their involvement in the NZ Wine Industry. Soon after, the Albarino Brothers was born. Ollie Powrie, Shaye Bird and Ant Saunders all share a passion for Albarino. The other thing they have in common is daughters, 6 in total!
Ollie has been raving on about Albarino for a few years now. If you have met him, you will know! His background is in winemaking and vi culture and, with Shaye's passion in wine sales, and Ant's wine production and exporting expertise, they are very excited to be soon launching their first vintage.
