The Serafino story began in 1964 when Italian born Steve Serafino Maglieri arrived in Australia, as a passionate teenager full of dreams. He planted the first vines in McLaren Vale two years later, laying the foundation of a winemaking dynasty that now extends to 350 acres. Considered one of the most beautiful wine regions in Australia, Serafino Wines is located in the heart of the Fleurieu Peninsula, nestled between the sea and the hills.
Now overseen by daughter Maria, the wines have a reputation as being one of Australia's leading producers of Italian style red wines. Their passion for small batch hand made wines, has resulted in earning numerous international awards. Most notably, the Trophy for the most consistent Shiraz at the London International Wine Challenge after winning Gold in its class for five consecutive years.
Nebbiolo is famous around the world for its reluctance to make things easy for those who grow and produce (approx. 148 makers in Australia). This Nebbiolo has a strong perfume of violets, and the contradictions of sweet and sour cherries on the palate.
Bright red colour in the glass. A lifted bouquet of dark cherries, orange blossom and spice. Rhubarb, spice and savoury dry tannins create texture of medium weight and a lingering finish.
The Nebbiolo grapes are grown in their Little Road vineyard in McLaren Vale, South Australia - planted in 2000.
