This family owned and operated property has been in existence since 1639. Jean-Michel Parce runs the show here now, and it was his father Dr Andre Parce, who was not only instrumental in the creation of the Collioure appellation but also re-establishing the modern day reputation of Banyuls.
The Domaine covers 21 hectares in all, which provides fruit for three different cuvees of Collioure representing three individual vineyards, and several cuvees of Banyuls all of excellent quality. Banyuls is a grenache-based fortified wine that has been made since the thirteenth century. The wines of Mas Blanc have a vivacity and depth rarely matched anywhere else.
Banyuls is one of France's best kept secrets for sweet wine. Classically it is fortified to build upon the richness of the grapes, but the rimage is all about retaining the freshness and youth of the wine. This wine spends less time on the skins after mutage (fortification) than many other examples of Banyuls which is when most of the fruity flavours are brought into the wine. It is recommened to be drunk young or with 20 years in the cellar.
