Château Villefranche is recognised as one of the oldest wine estates in the Sauternes region. It has been in the Guinabert family since the mid XVII century. The estate extends over to the Haut-Barsac plateau with its rich argilo-calcareous soil types.
The grape varieties used to produce their white wines include three major varietals : Sauvignon, Muscadelle and Semillon. These create delicate, elegant and fine wines.
While most of the white wine grapes for Villefranche go into their Sauternes, a small portion of the vineyard has been found to be more suitable for dry white wines. Highly aromatic, textured and fruity, this is great white Bordeaux.
