This twenty-one year old Loch Lomond single malt underwent its maturation in oak and sherry casks. Finishing in the latter imparts a deep hit of dried fruit and chocolate which contrasts nicely with the sharper fruit and barley notes you get up-front
Nose: Cedar, cinnamon, toffee apples and honeyed cereal.
Palate: Earthy pear skin, white grape, a touch of tobacco, cinnamon again, now with some ginger thrown in too.
Finish: Cask char, grilled peaches, waxy peels and milk chocolate.
