The Coopers Creek Select Vineyards range (a.k.a. SV) is turning heads. A set of small batch, carefully crafted, award winning wines, some of them might be new to you, others benchmark expressions of their varietal. From exotic aromatics to deep, engrossing reds Coopers Creek's SV range offers food-friendly wine styles that inspire and excite.
The fruit for each wine is selected from its vineyard source, carefully vinified and blended to achieve a pure expression of its origins.

Each SV wine has a nickname: an affectionate and often quirky reference to its origins, its style or simply a slice of Coopers Creek history.

The fruit for this wine is sourced from the Chalk Ridge block just to the south of Havelock North. It is so named due to the amount of fractured limestone in the soil profile. It is a very steep vineyard and is very difficult to work (too steep for a tractor, so we had to purchase a crawler). The vineyard faces due north and is very warm during the day.

A beautiful deep purple/red, with a dense, dark core and bright, flashing purple rim.
On the nose, it's the essence of Hawkes Bay Syrah: masses of black fruits, a touch of pepper, some meatiness and lovely, savoury oak.
A beautifully structured wine. Medium to full bodied with silken tannins and great length. The fruit in the mid palate lasts and lasts.

Think, a rich and full-bodied wine full of dark fruit flavours with lashings of black pepper and a long savoury finish.

The soft tannins, ripe fruit flavours, black pepper and spice make this wine a great accompaniment to many meat dishes such as lamb, venison, beef and game. The bolder and more complex style means that it will stand up to richer flavours and accompaniments.
