Wellingtonian John Porter is a lawyer by day and winemaker by night, at least that's how his small production Pinot Noirs began life when he and his family first planted vines in Martinborough in 1992. The family later bought a block of native bush which had been used as grazing farmland. They have since fenced it off from grazing, replanted native species and formed a wetland there. This wine is named in homage of that land, which is now home to a population of kereru, also known as native New Zealand wood pigeons.

* Proceeds from the sale of Kereru Pinot Noir go towards the upkeep and maintenance of this special block of restored land with the aim of retaining its restoration into native forest for future generations.

This wine drinks beautifully now at seven years old and retains gorgeous bright fruit freshness with a core of savoury complexity and a long finish.

All the grapes in this wine were hand picked, fermented in small tanks with a 20% whole bunch component.
