Single malt whisky here from the White Oak Akashi range, matured for five years in a white wine cask. It's usually red wine casks that you see whisky matured in, but right here we're looking at one drawn from a white wine cask, resulting in... Well, a different flavour profile, as you would expect knowing the difference in flavour profiles between red and white wine.
The nose is softly spicy with a smidge of smoke, wrapped up in tangy grape and citrus.
Brown sugar on the palate, more tangy fruit brightness cutting through vanilla and oak.
A lasting hint of lemon and chocolate on the finish.
