Vavasour's Single-Vineyard wines are pure expressions of their variety and true reflections of the terroir of their estate vineyards. The Papa Chardonnay delivers aromas of stonefruit and nectarine, with a flinty complexity. On the palate, flavours of stonefruit are rich and complex. The finish is long and mineral.

The Awatere Valley is a sub-appellation of New Zealand?s famed Marlborough region. It features a cool, maritime climate and deep Greywacke soils that have been compacted over millions of years by ancient glaciers. Awatere?s vineyards are partially protected from the prevailing north-westerly winds by a broad range of mountain peaks. Named for the compacted blue-grey mudstone that holds tight to the roots of Vavasour's mature vines, Papa Chardonnay has a generous bouquet of white peach,  brioche and hints of flint. A concentrated palate of rich stonefruit, elegant  citrus and savoury complexity leads to a lingering saline minerality.
