Known Unknown's first wine was called Orange Emoji and this is kind of an evolution of that wine.
It is from the Esk Valley, just north of Napier and is a blend of three components: It is about 50% whole-bunch co-ferment of Pinot Gris and Chardonnay blended with pressings from the Chardonnay and Pinot Gris which we're pressed off part-way through fermentation on the eve of the level 4 lockdown. It is waxy, aromatic with grippy tannins balanced by pure, fresh fruit and a hint of spice.
