The name Mon Cheval is in homage to the owner's champion racehorse, Under Cover Lover, whose winning ways helped the dream of making wine possible. The 2.2 hectare vineyard is found at the entrance to Weka Pass in North Canterbury, and is planted with Pinot Noir and only a small amount of Riesling.

Light straw in colour with the aromas reminding you of orange peel with hints of exotic flowers. Tasting of orange with honey hints, this wine is medium sweet and luscious but nicely balanced with good acidity and a long lingering finish. Scrumptious now, but will reward cellaring if you can wait.
