The Coopers Creek Select Vineyards range (a.k.a. SV) is turning heads. A set of small batch, carefully crafted, award winning wines, some of them might be new to you, others benchmark expressions of their varietal. From exotic aromatics to deep, engrossing reds Coopers Creek's SV range offers food-friendly wine styles that inspire and excite.
The fruit for each wine is selected from its vineyard source, carefully vinified and blended to achieve a pure expression of its origins.

Each SV wine has a nickname: an affectionate and often quirky reference to its origins, its style or simply a slice of Coopers Creek history.

What?s in a name? Dubbed "Guido in Velvet Pants" the wine's nickname refers to both Guido (Simon's charming Italian Greyhound who resided in his winery office each day) and an obscure, but very memorable reference to an order of Carmelite Nuns, who, delighted by a new wine from their vineyard exclaimed: "It slips down the throat as easily as the Infant Jesus in velvet pants." Indeed it does.

Montepulciano always has great colour. A saturated black core runs to a deep purple rim.
Typical Montepluciano on the nose, with masses of wild black fruits coupled with delightfully savoury hints and a dash of new oak.
At bottling this wine was full of youthful vitality. Soft, velvety tannins balanced by loads of juicy black fruit in the mid palate.

Rounded tannins and ripe berry flavours make this wine a great accompaniment to many meat dishes such as lamb, venison, beef and game. Many rich sauces go well with this wine, as will roast garlic and vegetables. Understandably, the wine is also superb with pasta!
