Clay Creek Vineyards are located in the Lodi region of California wine country. Positioned between San Francisco Bay and the Sierra Nevada mountain range, the Lodi appellation, while relatively far inland, is able to maintain a classic Mediterranean climate featuring warm, sunny days and cool evenings. This is because the appellation is situated at the end of the Sacramento River Delta, which brings chilly, afternoon ?delta breezes? to the area during the growing season. Lodi is perhaps best-known as a premier source of 100+ year old ancient Zinfandel vineyards?the oldest dating back to1888. But the appellation produces dozens of other varieties as well, including Chardonnay, the best of which usually boast bright, fresh aromas and flavours of citrus, pear, apple and peach.
