Alpha Domus! First House Of The Hawkes Bay!
Established in 1989, Alpha Domus is nestled in the heart of Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand’s oldest and second-largest wine region. Founders the Ham family, purchased 20 hectares of bare land in an area of the Western Heretaunga plains, later to become known as the Bridge Pa Triangle Wine District. Pioneers in the area, they established one of the first wineries and were instrumental in the formation of The Bridge Pa Triangle Wine District, giving the sub-region an identity as a premium winegrowing area of Hawke’s Bay.
An integral part of the Alpha Domus brand and the Bridge Pa landscape, has been the close and constant presence of the nearby historic Bridge Pa Aerodrome, and resident Tiger Moths.
Still seen flying over the winery, the distinctive and magical Tiger Moth has connotations of adventure and romance, beauty and passion, history, and something well made; all elements found in Alpha Domus wines.
The importance of quality and expert craftsmanship are paramount with the philosophy to remain relevant and authentic outside of trends with classic enjoyable wines; world-class full-bodied reds, distinctive white varietals and sparkling wines.
Full organic certification further enhances the wines. Alpha Domus work in harmony with nature encouraging biodiversity in the vineyard using naturally derived materials to nourish soil fertility and manage disease. Health is built from the ground up with biologically active soils nurturing robust vines and fruit, improving wine quality and complexity from healthy
organic fruit.
