Galway Pipe is named after Governor Sir Henry Galway, Governor of South Australia between 1914-1920. Governor Galway was a frequent visitor to the winery and on each visit he would conduct a tasting of the finest ‘pipes’ (500 litre barrels) of fortified tawny. Whichever pipe was most to his liking was inscribed as ‘Galway’s Pipe’ and that particular blend was used exclusively at Government House.

Alongside Don Bradman’s bat, Banjo Paterson’s notebook and Phar Lap’s saddle, the Galway Pipe Grand Tawny is an impressive addition to Australia’s icons. Full-bodied, deliciously textured and luscious, Galway Pipe is recognised as one of the best fortified’s in the world, ensuring Australia’s unique style of tawny holds its length on the international wine show arena.

Fermented & aged in oak for an average of 25 years this wine is a deep tawny colour. It has layered aroma of raisins, grilled nuts & fruit cake. The palate is defined by rich & intricate complexity with pronounced flavours of caramelised toffee, dried fruit & vanillin oak, finishing with immense length & intensity.
