The Serafino story began in 1964 when Italian born Steve Serafino Maglieri arrived in Australia, as a passionate teenager full of dreams. He planted the first vines in McLaren Vale two years later, laying the foundation of a winemaking dynasty that now extends to 350 acres. Considered one of the most beautiful wine regions in Australia, Serafino Wines is located in the heart of the Fleurieu Peninsula, nestled between the sea and the hills.

Now overseen by daughter Maria, the wines have a reputation as being one of Australia's leading producers of Italian style red wines. Their passion for small batch handmade wines has resulted in earning numerous international awards. Most notably, the Trophy for the most consistent Shiraz at the London International Wine Challenge after winning Gold in its class for five consecutive years.

Vibrant deep crimson red in the glass with spicy cherry aromas. Sangiovese displays savoury spice and dark cherry which flows on the palate, complimented with medium tannin finish.

The fruit is sourced from Serafino vineyards situated on Little Road, McLaren Vale.

The Sangiovese vineyards consist of 3 different clones. At harvest each parcel was picked separately, destemmed and not crushed. Following this the fruit was fermented in open fermenters for a period of nine days to obtain optimum extraction of tannin and flavour. Post malolactic fermentation, the wine was blended and matured in a combination of old French oak and tank, allowing the wine to enhance its complexity.
